What does a missionary do?
It may surprise the children that someone can be an artist and be a missionary. In fact it surprised me a few years ago to see the variety of jobs that a missions board was looking to fill overseas. Teaching this to the children may keep the door open to the possibility of a life of missions work. However, be sure to explain that no matter what a missionary might do on the field from day to day, the most important thing they do (and the real underlying reason they are there) is to bring the Gospel to the people and establish churches.
